Hi All,

We will be around the DC area the middle of October and would like to find a safe place to leave our motorhome. We will camp at the site the first night, then take our toad into DC where we will be staying at a hotel a couple of nights (business). Then we will head back to the campground and stay another night before leaving. We don't mind having a place an hour away, but want to feel that the motorhome will be safe while we are staying in DC without paying alot of money. I have read about Cherry Hill, but it is very expensive considering we won't be there. Can anyone recommend a park...even a state park nearby that you would feel good about? We have a 40' motorhome.

WE were at DC last year and stayed at a KOA in Fredricksburg, which is about 60 miles south of DC. The facilities were very nice.

We went to D.C. last year and stayed in Woodbine Maryland at Rampblin Pines. Nice place and they had a gated entry. It's not too far from D.C. Don't know how the traffic is though, we took the metro down into D.C. Nice place and pretty quiet.

We stay at Ramblin Pines frequently but we are going into Baltimore rather than DC. It looks as if you might be better trying Lake Fairfax Park in Reston,VA. They appear to have sites that can take a 40' coach whereas most parks are limited to 30'. Their number is 703 471 5415.

Thanks so much for your responses! I failed to mention that we will be heading straight back home to northeast Georgia when we leave, so something that is a good exit place for that destination is good. Even if the campground is an hour or so away, but headed in the right direction is fine...of course I am not even sure which of the interstates are the best to travel back on either! So any suggestions in that area is appreciated as well. We just got the motorhome this summer, new to Rving, and this is our first big trip. When we leave the DC area...it will have been 5 weeks from home!

Northeast GA. Best escape would be Fredricksburg, VA. It is very close to I-95 south and you are already below DC.

Hi: I stayed at Greenville Farms CG at Haymarket,Va. It's appx 45 mi.s east of I-81 on I-66;just off Us 15no. nice quiet family operated CG. Dulles A/P is 30 min.s away
