Placing RV on blocks permanently
Hello
I have a 1996 Monaco Dynasty. I have owned this RV for 4 years and have spent a lot of money on maintaining as well as a recoiled radiators. I went under the RV a couple of weeks ago to find that the undercarriage including some of the rails are extremely corroded with rust. I have taken the RV to a state of the art body shop in Toronto Ontario who will give me a quote tomorrow. It is going to be expensive as they have told me that the work will take two weeks. My other option to not fixing this problem is to find a RV site in Florida where I can permanently place the RV and put wood with a barrier so that I am using the RV in the winter when I fully retire next year. Your opinion and thoughts on this matter is extremely appreciated. Thank you.

I would suspect that it would have to be in an RV park? Would they allow "permanent" placement of the unit?
We were possibly looking for a small lot in Florida to set our 5th wheel on for the winter months, but working through a realtor, we were informed that that was not allowed in Florida. RV's were only allowed in RV parks and if purchasing property, you had to build and were not allowed to just park an RV on it.
Don't know, but that's what we were told.

Hi monnewbie,
Why put it on blocks? Just park it in the RV park of your choice. Maximum inflate the tires, lower the jacks to level and stabilize the coach and you're done. You'll need to have a license tag on the back. That will mean insurance. Just get the minimum policy. Keep the outside presentable. You should be just fine.
The only thing to determine are the park rules. Pick a park that has park models. You should be charged the same as a park model.

After the other issues are worked out I would set it on cinder pads with a jack stand on that don't use wood use son plastic instead then you can still say it is mobile not permanent and the wood won't rot or trap moisture.

Your suggestions are awesome but the reason for doing this is the undercarriage which holds up the storage areas are rusted to the point of failing apart including the rails. Need to put something under the RV si when the undercarriage falls completely it won't be on the ground.

Hi monnewbie,
I do not know how your coach is built. It is difficult for me to visualize the rails being so rusted through that they could fail. However, since the rails are what the coach is built upon, if they fail the coach body will fail.
I guess the bottom line is make sure the CG owner knows what you need to do. The rails should be far enough under and away from the side of the coach that nobody else will notice. Keep the wheels on.

Not really-all depends on the zoning and the county the property is located in . You need to get another realtor

The rails are along the side of the RV that holds up the storage compartments that are rusted. The chassis rails is what the RV is built upon and they are fine.

We purchased a lot on the Steinhatchee River (Taylor Co. FL) in February, obtained permits for a camper hookup, had the plumbing & electric hookups installed/approved in March. We are even allowed to have 2 campers on the lot during scallop season. Where were you looking?

I am thinking about central Florida as the drive to attractions...the beaches...the gulf of Mexico and home is not to far away.
