Derek and I are considering a position in Pleasanton, CA. Does anyone know of any parks near there that will accept a long term'er at a reasonable rate?

Thanks,

John

Hey John - you guys headed out west to escape the tornadoes and flurries??

Unfortunately, the Bay Area is rich in a lot of things, but campgrounds is not one of them. We are currently in Bethel Island, and will be heading back to south San Jose (Coyote Valley RV) next month. Pleasanton is right in between the two, and I don't know of much of anything that is closer.

Coyote Valley would not be a bad place to stay. It is about a 45 minute drive - reverse commute. Coyote Valley is at the south tip of San Jose, so there are plenty of things to do around there. Coyote Valley also has a few work campers, just in case the urge is there...

Pleasanton is a nice town, as is Livermore, Dublin, Walnut Creek, and others in the East Bay. Unfortunately, just not a lot around for us RVers.

Hope all is well - and would love to see you guys out in our neighborhood some day!

Hey Kev!

Thanks for the response!

Yeah, our goal is certainly to get west... but not sure when or if it's gonna happen. Derek had a bite on a job there, and is looking into it now... We are supposed to be here until August, but in reality that is coming up pretty quickly....

I would be much more comfortable with less commute for him, but sometimes you gotta take what you can get.... I was hoping someone knew of some super secret local hideaway that would take us in less than 15 min commute, but it doesn't look like that will happen.

Hope all is well!

John

Kev...explain to Moder2 that the only way to get that type of commute in the bay area is one of two ways - do as you do and "work from home" OR get permission from the city/county and employer to park and live in the employer parking lot!

Sorry- I am still picking myself up from the floor!

All funning aside... That doesn't sound like a good plan!

Does anyone have any experience with the Mobile home parks in the area? I have heard that many will take RV's on a long term basis... We stayed at one in Bloomington, IL a while back...

Moder2...
All of the parks down there used to allow long term stays...but it is hard to say what they do now.
You can start calling these numbers... and look at the parks via the maps and bird's eye view in the link...
Good Luck

John and Derek,

You might consider the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton http://www.alamedacountyfair.com/rv_camping.html

We have only camped there once for 2 nights but it was a pleasant and quiet stay. We'd camp there again.

Cheers!

Mike & Mike...
I am not sure what the rates are at the fairgrounds for sure... but their "rules & regulations" do state the following:
"RV's may stay up to a maximum of 21 consecutive days in one site. RV's
staying more than 21 days will be moved to RV Lot 3 and must be approved
through management."

I also don't like the fact that "There is no Monthly Discounted Rates" according to the webpage...and at what I believe to be the rate of $45 a night...I would consider someplace else...JMTCW

Moder2,

Beautiful Taxifornia; Well, ONE thing you won't need out there is the heater. Pleasanton is one of the hottest places, in the summertime, in all of California. Nice golden hills, and all.

Best of luck with the camp sites, and all.
