We were in Golden Meadow on LA1 about ten miles from Port Fouchon in early NOV '08

The marina RV facility at that time was totally trashed, the RVs that were there were being cut up if not able to be towed out.

The SP at Grand Isle was still closed during our visit.

The marsh fishing for red fish and white trout was very good while we were there visiting my cousin who is a charter captain.

Thier web site is up does that mean that there may be life after all. Had a friend that spent the winter there said he was helping don't know if that means he was getting it ready for occupancy or just working

Port Fouchon is a great place to visit but I wouldn't want to stay for more than a day or 2 unless I was working or fishing. This is a flat marshy area that is supported by the oilfield and fishing industry. I would suggest staying at Bayou Segnet State Park and taking a day trip to the area prior to commiting to more that a couple of days.

The last I heard is that the SP at Grand Isle is operating, don't know what kind of shape its in. I have seen a number of RV's heading down HWY1.
