Portland Maine

Leaving Texas for Nova Scotia late August. Would like to spend a couple of days in Portland. Looks like there are only 2 campgrounds close. Anyone have campground suggestions?

The only time I stayed in the Portland area I stayed here https://www.wassamkisprings.com/ for a few nights, not my idea of camping but it was very friendly and well maintained. Check out https://campmaine.com/map/ for some other options. Hope this is of some help!

Thanks. Looked at Wassamki Springs. Is it ok for big rigs? Will probably stay there unless I get better suggestions

Many large sites with full hooks up with 50 amp service. And I am pretty sure all of them have cable. The only draw back I can think of it is close to the Portland Jetport. But the noise is not that bad.

We find Portland great little city, harbor cruise thru the Calendar Islands,bike/walking trails all around town, the food, and lighthouses. We've stayed at Old Orchard Beach CG,Wild Duck(over 21 only) and Bailey's Resort CG all are 20 minutes or so south of Portland in the Scarborough/Old Orchard area

Thanks Ned. Are those all big rig friendly? Which is your favorite?

I'll chime in that we stayed at Baileys, and yes, it is big rig friendly. Baileys was nice...it is BIG. Would stay there again. Don't know about the others.

Wild duck and Bailey's are only a mile or two apart but are real opposites in CGs. Bailey's is big and busy with water slides and adult pool and spots for any sized rig. Wild duck is small and the sites are tight but there are big rigs there , we stayed next to a 40+MH . It is without doubt one of the quietest CGs we have stayed at. We're heading back to Old Orchard CG again this year
Definitely big rig friendly, with shaded or open sites, pull thru or backin. Hope this helps

Our site at Wild Duck, springtime. We thought Baileys was too busy and noisy for us.
