1st stop will be land between the lakes,
2nd will be mammoth cave
3rd will be close to chicago,
4th wisconsin dells before arriving in shawano

and suggestions on camping spots
1) fifth wheel
2) prefer full hook ups
3) we will be 2 to 3 nights at each stop

The best campground in the Mammoth Cave area is Cave Country in Cave City:

Home Page

It's in a very convenient location right off I-65 (Exit 53 I believe) and behind the Cracker Barrel. It's just down the road from the park a few miles and in between Mammoth Cave and Glasgow for restaurants, etc. Full-hookups, pull-through sites, cable and wifi. They also have a large fenced dog play yard if you're bringing friends.

The only drawback is it's fairly close to some busy freight rail lines. That doesn't bother me as I sleep with my windows closed, but some have complained about that.

There are other campgrounds in that area, but I do not recommend them. The biggest is Jellystone, but the sites there were designed back in the 60s with big 5th wheels and Class As didn't exist.

No, Cave Country does not - at least it didn't in 2008 when we were there. It's a basic pull-thru, fhu campground. No fancy ammenities. See my review & pictures.

If you need a campground with a pool in the Cave City area, I'm afraid Jellystone is the only choice. Just be careful, I got myself stuck there once when my tag wheels lifted my drive axle off the ground on an extremely unlevel campsite.

I'm parked at Cave Country as we speak. Nice weekend getaway.
