Prince Edward Island CGs

We are in the planning stages of a late summer return trip to PEI via NB

The CG we previously stayed at (New Glasgow Kighlands) was a great, clean and well managed place but their large sites are only 50 to 100 feet from a busy road - think popping Jake Brakes and the local kids with phart can mufflers.

With that said, what are your favorites. I also prefer CGs other than Parc Canada with their funky reservation system but would consider regardless.

Thanks

Dave-

We have stayed at New Glasgow Highlands. Les and Marlene, the owners, we found terrific.

That said, we have also stayed at Red Point Provincial Park. We really liked the views of the Sound. The sites in the north are big... but they have (as of Summer 2018) shared power/water posts between two sites. That usually means one RV faces downhill, the one next door uphill. And, they are on grass and often not that level. It is more remote from the hub-bub (not that PEI has a lot of hub-bub!), but that is actually pretty nice. No Wi-Fi. Cell service is spotty, too. All in all, we recommend Red Point.

Hi Dave

We have been just once to PEI as we chose Cavendish Campground, centrally located, no noise, full hookups. large and small sites. I guess what we really enjoyed most was the whole area where the campground is located was so scenic. We had miles of level biking trails that we took our hybrid road bikes on. easy walk to the beach from our campsite... and from the beach was a 10 minute walk to a protected bay where the water temps was 80 degrees and if you dug your hands into the beach sand you would come out with hand fulls of clams.

We also do flat water kayaking so if your into that check out the Trout River In the nearby town of Stanly Bridge.

The whole area around around Cavendish is very touristy with shops, restaurants, amusements for kids and more but you wouldn't know it as the campground is set back away from that, so you kind of get the best of both worlds

Some good possibilities! Thanks

I've added them to my list.

We would also like to see another ceilidh like we enjoyed at Stanley Bridge again plus enjoy some of the restaurants nearby - and give the DW a break.

I'm envious, that was one of of things we didn't get to experience. Will be on our bucket list on our next trip to PEI!

Has anyone stayed at the Yogi Jellystone on PEI? If so is that a good base camp to see the island or is the island too long to explore from that CG? Weíre in a 43í DS with an F150 toad.
