Promised Land State Park (Pennsylvania)

So far I've heard only good things about this state park. We have reservations at the Pickerel Point campground later this month in one of the full hook-up sites.

I would love to hear about your experiences, tips on what to do here, or anything else you would care to share.

Also, I would really appreciate it if anybody has pictures of the full hook-up site and wants to post a few them.

Thanks,
Mark

I see you got no responses to this. Did you wind up staying there? How was it? We are thinking about staying there for a couple of nights this summer.

We've stayed there twice in the summer. Very high marks... Nice lake, big place, good hiking.

Mechanical issues prevented us from going. We are going to try again this year.

We have been going there since they updated Pickerel Point and love the place. We have two active dogs and the hiking trails are just what the vet ordered! We also bring an inflatable canoe and enjoy the lake. We have two weekends booked this season. It's too late to book a nice site for a holiday weekend this year though.

How's the fishing?

Do you have a preferred site, or are the full hook up sites pretty much the same?

Personally I like #134 as a full hookup site. It has a path to the water without crossing over the tent sites and it's not too close to the bottom of the hill and all the foot traffic. The other site I prefer is #115 at the top of the hill, it's only electric but 50 amp. It's also an easy trek through the woods to the lake.

Depending on the size of your rig, if you do opt for an electric only, you might want to scope out the dump station layout. My MH is 38 feet and maneuvering at the dump station in tricky since going around the building is really tight. I do a K turn and back in

So would you say Pickerel Point is the place to be if you have a RV trailer? Went on PA's website for Promised Land State Park to see that there is more than one camping area there. Never been to that area of PA. I'll keep it on my bucket list for a stop over on the way to VT. next time from Ohio. The furthest east we have been in PA. is to a tiny state park called Hyner Run just northwest of Williamsport.

I believe that Pickerel Point is the only one with full hookups.

That's correct. And only the ones towards the point, all others are electric only. They invested $3.4m into renovations of that area about 3 years ago and it shows. It's beautiful and everything is new.

The sites at the older Lower lake are electric only and a bit of a walk from the lake. There are some nice spots but if you don't know which ones they are you can get a bad one.

It's a State park and there is no camp store, not even wood for sale. I prefer State parks so I really like it there.

Wow, the full hook up sites are booked every weekend through the beginning of September. I should've tried booking a lot sooner.

They only finished remodeling it two seasons ago, since then, people are flocking back!
We actually booked a site in the other campground because we love the hiking and the motorcycle riding in the area. I can go 3 to 4 days with just electric without any issues. I'm sure your rig is just as capable. Site 115 is a nice electric only spot on the point so don't discount those if not for anything more that to try it out
