Go West of town on I-80, get off at exit 11 (Dome Rock Road) to the south side of the exit. Work your way towards town and you can get within a couple of miles of the big show area. Yes, its BLM.
What do you mean by work your way towards town? dig a tunnel? lol

Sounds like you may have to give up and stay at a Quartzite RV park. if you wish to be within walking distance.

you can dry camp for $7/night at Rose RV park, just east of all the action on Kuehn Street. A very short walk to the vendors at Rice Ranch and Tyson Wells. Lots of vendors and places to grab a snack in this area. Pull up a map of Q, find the intersection of Hwy 95(Central) and Kuehn st. That park(gravel lot) is just 2 blocks east of the red light. I also think Rice Ranch has spots with hookups. It would be very convenient to walk. Dona

Well if you plan on being there the last half of January.. There are a couple of campgrounds (Expensive) near the intersection of State Route 95 and I-10 (no exit there but there is a bridge)

Most everything in QZ is witihin 1.5 miles (Fifteen city blocks) of that location.

If you plan on parking on BLM land.. that starts perhaps a quarter to half mile south of there.. (Way cheaper) The main "Tent" is at that intersection.

I would recommend the $7-$10/night dry camping sites right downtown. If you want the "free" experience you can go to the first camping area South of town (La Posa but I don't which one). Turn right at the entrance and you can come quite a ways back toward town and end up within a short walk of town "if" this area has not already been occupied by others. There's a lot of dirt but people like to have room and usually frown on folks that pull up and camp 10' away.

"You can dry camp for $7/night at Rose RV park" IMO this would probably be one of your best options. You don't want to be driving the MH around Q any more than you have to, traffic is pretty bad and parking is worse, especially around the big tent.
I hope you are pretty good at walking, just walking the various swap areas wears me out.

Driving an RV in and around the "big tent" area is not going to have a great result if you try to park. There is parking along the road East of town on E. Kuehn St. but this fills up early and you are likely still looking at a pretty good walk. If you park far enough out this road you will be across the street from the Rose RV park and could just as easily have stayed there. You will be about 1/2 mile from the tent and even farther from the downtown area and the vendors at the West part of town. It will be almost impossible to do it all walking so a bicycle at a minimum would likely be necessary unless you have a very small RV.
