Driving much slower than normal is good advice. We had people in RVs fly by us later to be seen broken down along the road. Even on road that looks good can be deceiving so caution is always needed. The Milepost is great for finding turn outs so you can let traffic by as you drive slower. And there are tons of them on both sides of the road. We saw some really risky driving behavior (mainly from locals) and we also saw the widest item we have ever seen as we were going into Valdez. They had about 12 escort trucks and the lead truck was way ahead getting people off the road so this truck could pass. We barely had room on the edge of the road and the truck barely made it by us. We plan to travel back to Alaska this upcoming summer so we were not put off by the bad roads and bad drivers. You find them everywhere.

Just told my Sis-n-law today in North Pole to reserve campsite #1 in her driveway again for for 2019. Can't wait....
