Recommendations for between Houston, TX and Branson, MO

Family of 4 (2 kids ages 10 & 13) planning a family reunion in Branson, MO (not in the RV) in early August, then want to take a week to ourselves in the RV.

Looking for suggestions for parks/areas to explore in the RV that is near Branson or between Branson and Houston, TX.. or thereabouts.

We are an active young family that likes outdoor activities (white water rafting, zip lines, biking, hiking) and also natural history stuff. We will already have taken in some shows in Branson so we will be looking for more active and outdoors activities & areas.

Any suggestions?

Happens we are going to Branson for a family reunion also. We are staying at Port of Kimberling CG. $33 a night We have relatives in the area and they recommended it. Check out their web site. It's on a good size lake and I believe they rent all types of watercraft. Also contact the Branson tourist assc. They sent us a very informative magazine on local activities. The CG is about 12 mi. from Branson. Have fun!

we rented a houseboat once on table rock lake. It had a water slide from the upper deck that the kids loved. Maybe time to do that again?

Every time we have visited Branson, we stayed at Branson Stagecoach RV Park and it is an unlimited Passport America CG so the member price is $22 a night. That leaves some money to go party. If you are not a PA member, it is worth the $44 a night. Use my membership number to join C-477540. (I get a discount next time I register) You get a return on your investment with two nights stay.

We enjoy the area and our kids really love Silver Dollar City. For zip lining this past summer we tried Ozark Mountain Ziplines in Eureka Springs. Not as good as Maui or The Smoky Mountains however very good. Here is a picture of my daughter on a zip line in Eureka Springs. By the way, Roaring River State Park is also pretty good.

Try the Gulpha Gorge Campground in Hot Springs, Ar. It's a National Park campground with full hookups, lot's to see in the area. 24 a night.
