Recommendations Santa Fe & Albuquerque
Looking for recommendations for one week stays in both places for the last week of October in Santa Fe and first week of November in ABQ. I would think that weather should be decent during that time but any thoughts on that from those in the know are appreciated.
TANX!

In May, we stayed at Route 66 Casino and RV, close to ABQ. Check it out. It is a brand new park. Easy access behind the casino, very quiet, level sites, roomy, sparkling clean and modern. Super pool area. Breakfast coupons for the casino.

These are nice folks.

And if you're a beer drinker...then you will delight in the brewery that is nearby. They have a nice outdoors patio.

when in Albuquerque , which is usually twice a year during the spring, we stay at Isleta Lakes RV Park on I-25 about 8-miles south of I-40.

Thanks for the recommendations. In addition to visiting historical places we like bicycling and easy to moderate hiking. What are some of the places folks suggest to visit in these areas?

I would not stay a whole week in ABQ unless I had to. I can speak to Santa Fe and other areas as I lived there for 12 years before full timing. We always stay at the Trailer Ranch on Cerrillos in SF. Lots to do in SF and the riding is good right from the park. Let me know your level of cycling so I can be more specific as to the routes and trails (if you MTB). The hiking is also great in and around SF. Do you want a RV Park with FH or are you interested in less than FH? Size of rig?
Places to visit: Santa Fe Plaza, Loretto Chappel, Tesuque Market for lunch or dinner, Los Alamos Atomic museum, Day trip up to the Pecos River, Hiking Bear Wallow trail, Hiking Black Canyon trail, day trip to Taos (Lunch at Eske's). Dinner or Lunch at Harry's Roadhouse in SF, Second Street Brewery, Cowgirl for lunch, Upper Crust Pizza is good, Geronimo's on Canyon rd is great (pricey). Man, I got a ton of stuff. Let me know if you want more.

THANKS!
My MTB skills are rather limited. LOL However, I'm a pretty proficient road cyclist.
For hiking we are good for up to 5 miles with some challenges. We are also good for hiking trails that we can take our German Shepherd on.
We are looking for FHUs for our 43' MH.

Recommendations Santa Fe & Albuquerque
I would stay at the Trailer Ranch then. There will be road noise but it is not bad. Location is great. Good hikes are the Windsor Trail, Borrego/Bear Wallow/windsor triangle and black canyon. The Windsor trail head is off Bishop's lodge road. The other two are off Artist road(ski road). The first two hikes intersect the Tesuque Creek so wolfie will have water. Black Canyon is a shorter loop in Hyde State park. Also, near the top of the ski road on the left is the Cross Country Ski trail head. Great hiking up on those trails. Beautiful that time of year.
For road biking you can take the bike lane on Cerrillos south right out of the RV park to Zefarano rd. and go Right. Go to Rafina and go left and then to Meadows and go right. Follow Meadows over the 599 to the frontage road. Go right on the frontage road to Camina La Tierra. Go Left. Look at google maps. You can make what we call the Companas loop and circle back to the frontage road and follow the route back to Cerrillos. Also, take Agua Fria or West Alameda into town and ride out to Tesuque or climb the ski hill road. Plenty more rides. Send me a PM if you want more detailed routes.

a bit west of Albuquerque and a bit north of I-40 you'll find three extinct volcanos called 'The Three Sisters'. for me, at the time, it was a moderate hike up to the summits and around the bases.
we've spent a lot of time in the ALBQ area both in length of stays (one time we spent 2-weeks) and in the frequency of our visits. lots to do and see both in and around town as well as longer day trips.
- The Three Sisters
- Several casinos in and around the area
- ALB Isotopes minor league baseball team
- Sandia Peak Tramway
- Day trip to Santa Fe (about an hour north) to see Los Alamos
- ALB Bio Park and other museums up the ying-yang
- Route 66 attractions. There's actually a corner of Rt 66 and Rt 66 in ALBQ.
in addition we did a couple of longer day trips from our base in ALBQ. one was to the VLA (Very Large Array) of radio telescopes about 50-mi west of Socorro, NM (about 2.5 hrs). this was very, very cool. another was to The Trinity Site (also about 2.5 hrs) where the first atomic bomb was tested in 1945. I think that site is only open a few times a year for tourists but you can still drive down there and see it, you just can't get past the gate. we went to Trinity with an organized group but we did the VLA on our own. all that plus plenty of down time to just sit back and relax.

I'd add the Lunch Buffet at La Fonda in Santa Fe - great "New Mexican" fare! We also had fun doing the "Green Chili Cheeseburger" route while there. ST
