Report: Meriwether Lewis Campground, Hohenwald, TN

The campground sits on a hilltop and as I wrote this in early April many if not most sites have views through the trees in one or more directions. Once the trees fill out with the new leaves leaves of spring (they were still bare when I was there) those views will likely disappear--the campground is in a forest of deciduous trees.

Just a mile from the campground is the gravesite of and memorial to Meriwether Lewis of the famed Lewis and Clark Expedition also known as the Corps of Discovery. After that famed expedition, as Governor of the Louisiana Territory, Lewis traveled the Old Trace on his way to Washington D.C. and it is within a few steps of his gravesite that he met his untimely death by gunshot. It appears uncertain whether it was murder or suicide.

That which appears above are brief excerpts from the full report on my free blog which includes much more info about the campground, area history and a number of additional photos. Many other campgrounds are reviewed on my blog along with boondocking sites, great photography, photo tips, travel reports and interviews with people I've met while full-timing over the past year. It's all red. If you like it look for the Follow Russ text entry field and type in you email address to receive free email notices when I post something new,

We stayed there, it is a no-charge campground, very nice campsites, no power or dump site.

Clean, Bathroom-no Shower-great place to stay, Self Contained folks will love it.

RVParkreviews is a very nice site and very useful. There are already a number of reviews of Meriwether Lewis there. I work very hard on my campground reports and then posting mentions here and RV.net which link to the full reports on my blog for those interested. Adding these mentions adds even more work to my day. I cannot make such mentions at RVParkreviews because linking to my blog is not permitted. Nor can I post photos there. I work too hard on my reports to allow other sites to use and benefit from them without getting anything in return such as a link to my blog.
