Reservations Required?

Get yourself a Good Sam RV Travel Guide and maybe even a KOA guide since you said you have young kids. I have 5 and 3 year old so I typically like to plan so that we stay at parks which have attractions they like, such as playgrounds, pools, etc. You might be ok but may have to sacrifice a nicer park for a lesser park. Also, not sure what type of RV you have but a lot of Camping Worlds and Walmarts allow for overnight parking so you can use that as a backup plan.

There are also a lot of apps you can buy.

I use the RV Park Advisor app
It has reviews, a nice satilitte view in which you can use to look at the park as well as realtime traffic. I use this while on the road and has worked well.
