We are in the process of planning our summer trip. We are looking at the Rocky Mountain National Park area. We like full hookups. It seems that the Estes Park campgrounds/parks have small sites. I found Riverview which seems to be what we like from the website. Is this location close enough to RM to be doable? Is this park what it looks like on the website?

We have stayed there twice and really liked it! We will go back! Just looked at pics there last night - the web pics r accurate! It is a curvy drive to RMNP. Takes a little time. But very pretty!

Jim & Janet,

We spent 4 nights there in late Sept 2010. The park is ok, nothing special and everything worked. The drive into RMNP is a very nice one, you drive up through a canyon a good part of the way. It makes a very good base for seeing the NP if your stay is only going to be a couple of days. But we were less than happy with the place, but it works if you don't expect much. On the phone they said PA would not be a problem, when we got there on a non-PA day we had to 'wait to see if the site would still be available' until they would allow us to book the site with PA. Not happy about that, sites vary big time from tight to ok. For 'happy hour', the 'Office' is back down the road a couple of miles going towards the interstate on the same side of the road.
