We have found that the major routes to all those towns are good for a 40' motorhome.Hwy 68 into Taos is good and even continuing up to Eagle Nest over to Red River to Questa is good. There are some ups and down but your MH would be fully capable of doing them. 68 doesn't have any big hills. Monte Bello is a nice basic place to stay. Great owners.

Hwy 84 to Chama and continuing on to Pagosa Springs is an absolutely beautiful drive. Abiquiqu Lake Corp of Engineer park is a pleasant place to stay. You'd be in the painter's, Georgia O'Keefe's, home area and she got lots of inspiration there.

Cochiti Lake Corp of Engineers is another good place to stay just south of Santa Fe. For an RV park in Santa Fe itself, Santa Fe Skies is probably the best.

From Pagosa Springs take 160 west to Durango, an easy drive. Plan to stay in Pagosa and soak in the awesome springs right in town overlooking the river. They are extremely clean concrete pools of varying temperatures. We usually spend a couple mornings there.

Great information twogypsies. Thank you.

We will be staying in Santa Fe and wondering how US 285 North is to get to Hwy 84 and on to Durango?

Also considering taking US 550 off I-25 btwn Santa Fe & Albuquerque directly to Durango.

We will be in a 32' gas MH. Any advice on how these roads will treat us?

Both 285 and 550 from Santa Fe to Durango are good roads for RVs. No big ups or downs. 84 and west on 160 to Durango is very scenic. Hope you're not planning the trip in winter. Enjoy!
