Rock island state Park in Tn/ Lake Powhatan in NC

Heading there is Friday from Florida. Spending 4 nights at rock island then over to Ashville NC to Lake Powhatan state Park. Anyone been to either of these places that can tell me some fun things to do? This is our first big road trip with a travel trailer and couldn't be more excited

We love Lake Powhatan! Stayed there several times. Things to do - hiking or driving in the Pisgah national forest (and eat dinner at Pisgah Inn), Asheville everything, Asheville / NC arboretum, Biltmore.

Rock Island is a cool park. Its older and the sites are small. I had a 36 ft. fifth wheel that I didn't think I could get in to their sites so I've not stayed there. My friends had a TT and they were fine. They kayaked there and loved it. You might want to travel to Lynchburg to the Jack Daniels Distillery.
