Rocky Mountain/Yellowstone June 2016

We're planning a trip from Western NC to points west in late spring 2016.

We would appreciate any CG recommendations and points of interest you would share.

Thanks
Larry & Tina

What type of facilities do you need? You will get quite different recommendations for full hook ups cf. dry camping or electric only. For example, I generally stay in National Park or National Forest campgrounds, but few of those have hookups. It is also useful to know what your interests are. Do you want to hike, sight see, visit historical sites, see wildlife, boat, fish, etc.

How far are you going into the Rockies ? Are you going to Jasper or Banff ?

Are you only staying south of the border ? The exchange rate from USD to CD could make the trip worth while. Check it out.

What is your planned route?

If you're doing Yellowstone, don't forget Grand Teton Nat'l Park which is right next door. They are completely different in looks and things to do.

We always stay IN the national parks for the best experience.

All national parks have a web site. They give lots of good information - campgrounds, things to do, road updates, maps, etc.

Your route could go in a circular form so you can take in different things on your return. For instance, the southern Utah national parks are awesome - Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands, Arches. Then work down to the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Depends how much time you have. You could easily spend the whole summer!

We are planning to travel in our motorhome. It is 40 feet long.

Our route from Murphy, NC:
Chattanooga, Nashville, St. Louis...I-70 west....Colorado Springs, Estes Park, Jackson, and West Yellowstone

Originally wanted to stay at Fishing Bridge in Yellowstone but it's already.
