RV Campgrounds in the Winter Park Area

We are hoping to take delivery of our new MH at the RVOne dealer in Winter Park by late January. After we take delivery we are planning to stay in the area to get acquainted with our new home and have access to the dealer in the event we have questions or if we find things wrong. That said, we would appreciate very much any camp ground recommendations folks might have in the Winter Park area. We would like to stay about a month and will need a place that will accommodate a 44 foot coach and toad. A State park would be ideal.

Many thanks for your help.

Regards,

Check with your dealer, they may have a place where you can stay on their dime. Many dealers in Florida have such a place, or arrangements with a nearby campground. We bought our current rig from Lazy Days and spent a week there in their delivery area getting lots of little things taken care of.

We used several parks within 90 miles of Orlando for the same time of year, Williston Crossings, River Lodge (there are a number in the Hommassassa Springs/Crystal River area), and the LD campground in Tampa (a little expensive, but not too bad). We faced the same problem you face, State Parks are likely booked for the Winter. Orlando area is expensive for what you're looking for, and we wanted a little nice. Williston met our objectives. We spent several days in the LD's to take the driver's training class (you may still be able to take for free, particularly if you're in the campground. Might want to dry camp at the Tampa Supershow for a few days if you have your coach).

Only a few months to go. Go to rvparkreviews.com and find something soon. JMHO

Campgrounds near Winter Park

I live near Orlando RV and bought my Aspire at ORV. I made a mistake and traveled 2 hrs away on my pickup day. It was about 1.5 hrs too far. My best Campground recommendation in the area is go to Tropical Palms RV resort in Kissimmee. If you are departing north it is indeed the wrong way, but it is not a great detour. Kissimmee is about 30 mins down I-4 from a Winter Park and Tropical Palms is the nicest "big rig" resort in town. Plenty of places to eat and easy to park. Reserve one of their premium sites for easier parking. That first night you are going to want a stiff drink and collapse in your new RV.

Does anyone know anything about Wekiwa Springs State Park which is northwest of Winter Park?

Wekiwa could work very well with the caveat of a two-week stay limit. From there go south to SR-436 or east to SR-434, get on I-4 southward and you can drop right off on Fairbanks Ave. Or pick up your new coach and be at the park by around 3 pm to avoid that stunning amount of traffic in the Orlando area.

Also to the west of Wekiwa is Kelly Park ( Parks & Recreation ) but I have no idea what size units can get in there.

I have to agree with wekiwa and tropical palms. State park may be full for when you are looking but tropical palms RV resort is a great place and friendly staff. We stay there several times over the last 5 years and have yet to be disappointed. Very easy to work with for late check out or holding a site for you if no one is coming in asking for that site. Tropical palms is close to camping world dealer right down the road as well.

If you choose Wekiva Springs SP call ahead to see if their 50 amp sites are available. The last time I checked last month, that section was closed off for contruction.
