RV Campgrounds Near Las Vegas NV.

My wife and I need to go to Las Vegas on Business next week. I know we can stay in a hotel/motel, but we want to use or RV, with no toad. We need to find an RV Park or Campground close to the Rio Hotel. We have stayed at the Elks Lodge, in North Las Vegas we did that last year traffic was almost as bad as LA, 12.2 miles from the Elks Lodge, also we need to be at the Rio is early in the morning, Last year it was at another hotel, this is a convention my wife needs to go to. I need to be able to park in an RV parking lot at the hotel. (we travel with our dog) does any one have any suggestions. We also belong to the escapees, but I don't know if they have a place close to Las Vegas.

Circus Circus KOA is close to one end of the strip, Oasis is on the other.. Oasis adds shuttle service to, I believe the Harrah family of casinos (Call them and ask)

If you don't mind driving a bit Main St. Casino used to have a very nice full hook up campground.. Bit noisy being right next to (used to be under but they cut it down some) a freeway exit (Elevated freeway) and across street from the fire station but a running air conditioner masks a lot of outside sounds... Plus it is walking distance (About two blocks) from The Freemont St. Expierence. Man st being a Freemont casino/hotel, call the casino and ask for the hotel, be sure to get directions, it is not easy to spot as you drive by (the rv park that is) This is NOT however on the strip.

Sams Town has a pretty nice RV park and they have shuttles to the strip. I have no idea how close or far Sam's Town is from the Rio Hotel.

Oasis is a very nice place to stay---it is 18 miles from the Rio---Vegas is hip deep in cabs as you know.

As I understand it you plan to move your RV to the RIO parking lot early every morning ... and then return to the RV Park at the end of the day ...

Can you just dry camp in the RIO parking lot?

As I recall RIO is on the "west" side of (and close to) I-15 ... so it would seem to me thatif you are not going to drycamp you should select an RV park along I-15 ... I think the Oasis is located along I-15 ... Sam's Town is a decent park but you will be driving on city streets between Sam's Town and the RIO

Using google and google maps you should be able to look at your options ...

if you will be moving to the rio every morning, you might consider a walmart, truck stop, etc. to overnight in. according to allstays, there are 20 w.m. in l.v. some allow overnight parking. i don't know where they are located in relation to the rio.
we are escapees also. to my knowledge, pahrump is the closest escapee park. we stayed there last fall. according to this strip map, the rio is located on the west side of the strip near where l-15 crosses flamingo road.
next time we are in lv, we will probably stay at the n. lv. flying j at l-15 exit 46, cheyenne ave. per allstays, they have a dump station too.
if you need hook-ups, sams town on boulder hwy near flamingo has a reasonable priced rv cg.

Try the Las Vegas RV Resort, just north of Flamingo Rd on Nellis. Very nice and clean and low $$. Also, just one block from Boulder Hwy which turns into Fremont. We were there last week. In 4 Days we broke even incl. food at Sam's Club and Golden Nugget (craps and BJ).

I may be to late to be of any help, but I live here in Vegas and have stayed in several and have checked out most of the non luxury resorts. Arizona Charlie's is 8.3 miles from the RIO just off of Flamingo on Boulder Hwy and their rates are as reasonable as any and I have found it easy to get into and out. I've stayed at there twice over the past couple of years while house hunting.

We just pulled in to the Thousand Trails campground in Vegas - it's on Boulder Hwy, near Sam's Town and Walmart. They have a new wi-fi system in place, but we bring our own with us.
