RV Overnight Parking

My wife and I will be traveling on I5 North of Los Angeles. Our destination is Humboldt Redwoods State Park. On the first day, We will leave about 7pm and stop for the night South of Bakersfield.

Does anyone have a suggestion regarding where along the 5 we might safely park our Navion for the night?

Haven't stayed south of Bakersfield but I have stayed at Buttonwillow Rest area at the junction of I-5 and CA-58 , a bit of noise but no other issues.

Edit: We are passing through in late March or early April, so June may be a bit different. Coalinga may have overnight restrictions , check with CA. highways.

The Flying J at Frazier Park might be an option. There appears to be a lot of parking area at Flying J and the hotel complex adjacent to it.

Download the Allstays App on your tablet or smartphone. Worth $9.95 IMO.

We stayed in Gilroy at a walmart, but that might be off you path a tad. What about around the san luis reservoir ? Los Banos? We use overnightrvparking.com, it's been worth what we paid for it for sure!

Between bakersfield stockton, it's like the surface of the moon, there's not much on that stretch.

When we went through bakersfield, we stayed at the bakersfield rv resort, which is nice.

Just so you know, it's legal to overnight at any rest stop along the interstates in California for 8 hours in a 24 hour period.

View the rest stop map and rules here: Safety Roadside Rest Areas - Caltrans

It will be HOT so I expect you want an RV Resort with utilities. I just consulted Allstays and there is a:

Bear Mtn RV Resort
661- 834-3811

just a bit up 99 after the split with a good rd to get you back onto 5 without backtracking.

It has 4 star rating and 3 $ price, so it is a good bet

Not much of anything at all shown on Rt 5 around Bakersfield.

Why are you taking the 5? It's not the best road and is generally in disrepair. Why not take the 101 and overnight at the beach? Then head up the coast. The views are much nicer and so are the roads.

In Bakersfield there is a CampingWorld. There are two spaces with electricity.
In Lost Hills there is a side street with lots of room next to McDonalds Burgers.

I agree, the 101 is so much nicer with far more to see than the 5 offers. Also, it's really the same amount of miles from Los Angeles to Humboldt on the 101 as it is taking the 5.

Lost Hills I5 exit just north of Bakersfield.
Lost Hills CG behind the Pilot, food nearby. Either are options.

Truck wash there if the need for clean strikes you.
Free wax with receipt from the Lost Hills CG.
