We'll be traveling from Belfast, Maine to Buffalo, NY in late August and I'd like to find an RV park to stay in along the way to break up the trip. Somewhere near Springfield, Massachusetts would be great. Hopefully we can find something close to I-90 since it would just be for overnight. Doesn't need to be fancy. Doesn't even need to have any hookups. Just somewhere clean and safe to spend the night. We have a 41' motorhome w/two slides and we tow a car. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Sorry to say, there aren't to many campgrounds out there that are close to the Mass Pike ( route 90 )
But there is a nice travel plaza on the pike just on the other side of Lee Ma. it is never to busy and the state police travel thru there all the time to check on things and I do see a lot of MH in there for the night.

There is one in the southbound and Northbound lanes. Yes they are large travel plaza's with a Micky D and wifi and yes you could pull in there. Be sure not to park in the truckers lanes. You may get boxed in and would need to wait util the bigger guy wakes up!

This might be off your path just a little but when traveling west on I 90 you will see I84 that you might want to take to Sturbridge village. There is a camp ground just in back of it that I thougth was really good. You can also stop by and see Sturbrige Village if you haven't before but if you live anywhere in New England you probably already have. Every school in that part of the country has that on their filed trip list.

If you are gong to Strubridge and don't mend just W/E, check on Wells State Park in Mass 49 just a little way from sturbridge.
Also,
Highview Vacation Campground in West Brookfield, MA.
Village Green in Brimfield
There are quite a few within driving distance of I-90. Easiest way is to go to a map program on-line, like maps.live.com and put in an address, such as the cg for W. Brookfield, 56 John Gilbert Rd, West Brookfield, Ma. Once there, zoom in and then in the BING search (Bing merged with MS) line put in the word "campground" without the quotes. It will populate the map with the campgrounds in the area. Call and see if they accomodate or have what you want, or check there web page. Also try other key words in the search, like RV Park. Unfortunately the information displayed is very dependent on the "Meta Tags" used by a web site so there are listings that are NOT campgrounds, so check their web pages or call.
Happy trails.
