rv park Arlington Va area

We will be attending the Marine Marathon in Arlington Va in Oct. We have a 40' motor home and will be towing. I've searched the internet with no results. Any recommendations in the general area, and how far from Arlington.

Thanks for your help

Hi Kenn and Pat,
I live in the area, and can't think of any RV campgrounds in Arlington County. In Fairfax County, you have Bull Run Regional Park located between Centreville, Va and Manassas, Va. off of I-66. It can handle 40' coaches. Travel time in the region is really discussed by time and not mileage as a result of our crazy traffic. Without traffic I can get from Bull Run to Arlington-- a straight shot down I-66 in 30 minutes; add an accident or heavy traffic and you could double that time or more.

Mike

Last Sept - we stayed at Bull Run Park. Very nice quiet park. Our son lives in Fairfax so it was the closest place we could find. Like Mike says - you HAVE to be aware of the traffic times. At any given time - a 1/2 hour drive can turn into a nightmare. By the way - if you stay at Bull Run - the park is full of oak trees. And in the fall - they drop their acorns, all night long. And will stain the awing cover and roof.

You might want to try Cherry Hill over in Maryland. Good access to mass transit.

X2 on Bull Run. Been to Cherry Hill as well. No tv or satellite at Bull Run, to many trees. But for a few days a great place, good spacing , relaxing.
Cherry Hill backs up to an Interstate, is packed spacing wise, and is a long way from D.C,
