Headed for the Keys (have reservations at Bahia Honda) in a couple of weeks with a couple of fellow RVers. The ladies want to stop around the Everglades for a day or so and take an airboat ride, etc.
Any suggestions as to a place to stop down that way for a couple of nights? Probably would like it on the West side...Maybe Everglades City area??
Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Capt. Joe,

No camping suggestions from me but I would recommend a stop at 'Glades NP Shark Valley. Believe they have both Airboat and tram tours. Lots of "nature" sightings.

Miccosukee Indian Village also has AB tours.

At Oasis Range Station you have a good chance to see gators close-up.

At Everglades City we did a regular boat tour out to the mangrove jungle and also a bus tour to the interior. Never knew gators liked marshmallows 'til that trip!
The driver put scoops of dog food at a feeding station on a tree on the way in. Coming back out there was a mama bear and three cubs eating it. Saw feral pigs too.

Hi Capt Joe,
If you do a search on the word "everglades", this fourm only, you will get info on CGs.

On the Westside there is Collier-Seminole State Park that should work... also look in Everglades City or Chokoloskee--- there is an Outdoor resorts facility there that looks pretty nice. Also consider Mid-Way campground -- usually pretty quiet and has hook ups. For airboat rides, look for the smallest boat for the best time. Jungle Erv's and Capt Doug are both in the Everglades City area and have small boats -- DOn't forget bug spray
