RV Park in New Orleans
Does anyone have any recommendations for a RV spot in or around the town of New Orleans. We have a 40ft Class A with a Tahoe for a Toad. We plan to be there for about 4 days.
Thanks

Although not in New Orleans there are 2 state park campgrounds less than 30 miles north of New Orleans, (Fontainebleau and Fairview-Riverside) and 1 less than 15 miles south, (Bayou Segnette).
All 3 offer 50A electric, water and a dump station.

French Quarter RV Resort - French Quarter RV Resort
This is 4 blocks from bourbon street, very nice park with walls all around and nice amenities on grounds, Small but well maintained. I have stayed here 3 times for at least 2 nights and never had any issues. it is right off I-10 but I never had any noise issues. Some people downgrade the surrounding, (old close warehouse and large parking lot right outside). You can look at reviews yourself, I have walked to the visitors center (about a block) many times never an issue. I have a 36 foot coach and saw larger there so I don't think you would have any issues with a 40'. It runs about $85 a night depending on events in French quarter.
They will give you a lift in there golf cart to and from the visitors center if you want and don't like walking the parking lot area. You can see it very well on google maps to look at the surrounding I am speaking of.

We stayed across the river at Bayou Segnette State Park and really loved it. Most of the reviews we read on parks closer to New Orleans seemed to cite close spaces and less than "nice" conditions.
We took the toad across Lake Pontchatrain and looked at Fontainebleau State Park which looked good too. Bayou Segnette was just closer to the French Quarter which was the focus of our attention on our visit.

Pontchartrain Landing is very nice. They do have a shuttle to take you to the Quarter as well.

If you join Passport America, staying at Pontchartrain Landing one night you will almost recover your annual membership.

If you want to stay in the city and never have to get into your car than French Quarter RV park is the way to go - parking lots in New Orleans are very expensive and street parking is hard to find with you having to feed a meter all day or get towed (the city makes lots of money from this service.) Bayou Segnette on the West Bank (6 miles away) is the best state park in the area and we have driven through it with several sites that would fit our 43'. Not all sites were level. KOA New Orleans West in River Ridge (9 miles away) is a no frill campground with easy access to the city. Pine Crest is in Slidell across the lake (27 miles away). The least expensive per night would be the state park; however if you have to add in $25.00 to $35.00 a day to park you might want to reconsider. You can get 24 hour free parking at Harrahs casino if you gamble 30 minutes.

We loved Bayou Segnette State Park and would take the Algiers Ferry across the river. It's free and enjoyed the ride back and forth.

+1 We always stay here when we visit New Orleans - it's a 30 minute drive in but we fell it is much safer place to stay then in NO proper.

I opted to go with one of your recommendations of the Bayou Signette State Park. It looks like it is a lot safer and worlds away from the French Quarter, but still about 10 miles away from seeing all the sites.
Thanks for everyone's help on this.
John
