I've stayed at all the RV parks within the immediate San Diego area and Chula Vista RV is the BEST I've been going there for almost 20 years. During the summer we spend 3 months there and on occasion we go there for week during the year. Last summer I actually did a little "work camping" in the form of added security. It's a great place and it's only drawback is that on occasion a bicycle or two is stolen by outsiders. If you bring a bicycle, LOCK it up. Aside from that, it's a nice place. It's right on the bay, there's a San Diego Port Authority owned public park just west of the RV park, the Galley restaurant is within walking distance and the store in the RV park is fairly well stocked.
with necessities. The Galley restaurant is owned by Fran Muncie, widow of Bill Muncey, Bill was famous as the pilot of Miss Budweiser (unlimited hydroplane boat)

While there you can go to Coronado, erroneously called Coronado Island. It once was an actual island but a man made strip of land (known as the Strand) was filled in to create a road between Imperial Beach and Coronado thus it's no longer an island.. Coronado can be reached by driving south around the bay then north along the strand to Coronado or, by heading north on the 5 freeway and taking the Coronado bridge.

Take the 5 freeway south to "H" street. Exit the freeway and turn Right (West) ONLY ON A GREEN LIGHT. If you turn right on the red, you risk a "T" bone collision with cars traveling north and south on Bay Blvd. Take "H" west to the stop sign, turn left at the stop sign then right onto Sandpiper way. Travel about 1000 feet to the entrance of the park.

Hope this info helps.

Yes it does. Thank you very much.

We are there now. Unfortunately, after 4 months, Camping World did not switch the hot and cold water in the shower and the "wazoo" shower they installed is junk, bu

Just got back from Chula Rv Resort. We loved it there. Thank you all for the recommendation. Now we are looking for campgrounds going up the California coast to Oregon. We are thinking it might be the cooler route for June or July. Any ideas? Thank you.

We stayed at Malibu Beach RV, Dockweiler State Beach in LA. As we live in SD we haven't stayed at to many locally. Santee lakes is pretty nice, as was Dos Pico's, Potrero and Sweetwater county parks.
I have heard that the one on the harbor in Chula Vista just south of the City is nice but have not been there yet.
I have driven SB to SD many times as my son graduated from CP SLO, rarely is it ever more than 4 hours. Unless you like to drive in rush-hour traffic.

Morro Bay is one we always go to, but weather isn't always nice there.
