RV Park Recommendations - Nashville, TN and Elkhart, IN

Any suggestions for an overnight stay just north of Nashville, TN close to I-65?

We are also looking for a nice campground to spend a couple of days at, in the Elkhart, IN area?

Thanks.

KOA Nashville, Jellystone, and something other RV park are all side by side near opry land hotel and Opry Mills Mall. It's not far from I65, not sure how many miles but it's not far.

Hi 62_inrightlane,
On Music Valley Drive (I24, the beltway) there are 3 choices.
Two Rivers
KOA
Yogi Bear
These are easy on and off, not far from I65. Best I remember Yogi Bear and KOA have pull through sites. Two rivers does not have pull through sites and is a bit more cramped than Yogi and KOA. The Opry is about 2 miles away.

If you want to go a bit farther north on I65, there is Nashville Country RV Park. They have a few pull through sites.

In Elkhart consider the Elkhart County Fair Grounds. Pull through and back in sites. Nothing else but full hookups. However, when there, I'm out seeing the sights and getting fat on Amish cooking.

For the overnight, do you need a CG or will you boondock at a WM or rest area?

We stayed at Elkhart Co/Middlebury KOA when we were in that area of IN a couple years ago. See my photos & review. Although I haven't been to it, I've heard the Shipshewana CG is good - at least the north CG is. Be sure you stop in at the RV/MH Hall of Fame (my photos).

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

Lori, while I would love the free WM parking the DW and I prefer the security of staying at a campground.

I know that many would say that folks coming in and out of a WM parking lot 24/7 is security. It may be, but it's not the security the DW and I prefer since we travel with dog's.

I'll definatly check out Elkhart Co/Middlebury KOA.

Thanks,

Marc

Here's a couple pics of the Elkhart Co Fairgrounds (located in Goshen) sites. Sorry they aren't very good. We were there for the FMA Rally last yr & I concentrated on pictures of all the new Fleetwood motorhomes on display, not the accommodations.

Two Rivers has entertainment on the porch in the evenings on weekends
Great sing alongs.
Other than that all 3 seem about the same. We stayed at Two Rivers but walked the other park
Will be returning to Two Ricers in August

Thanks all! We have made our selections.

For Nashville, we really liked the Music Valley parks, however I wanted to get a little further north of Nashville. They looked great as a destination park. Since we are just staying overnight we booked at Nashville Country RV Park.

For Elkhart, we booked at the Elkhart 4-H Fairgrounds. Close to the factory where we are having some warranty work done on our coach.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We can't wait to get on the road!

There is a really nice COE park near Nashville. Cannot remember the name but it looks like it had recently been updated and some sites had full hookups. If you want to see the sites in downtown Nashville, I would recommend one of the three parks previously mentioned. The KOA has some open sites for satellite but I must say, it is the most expensive campground we have ever stayed at, even with the KOA discount and a $10 coupon. You can leave your vehicle at any of those three campgrounds and be picked up by shuttle service for $10 per person round trip. That way, you can enjoy what Nashville has to offer without having to worry about driving or parking. We heard some amazing artists while there and the Country Music Museum was well with the fee.

We have also stayed at the Elkhart Fairgrounds Campground last year for a rally. The price was great and they had full hook ups and for us the wifi was great. There is a train nearby and during the daytime hours, the road in front of the campground was busy. We would stay there again if we are in the area.

When in Elkhart, we stay at the Elkhart Campground. Full hookups and near the factories. We love to attend the rallies at the Elkhart County fairgrounds in Goshen.
