I have used this web site many times and have always found it informative and interesting. Last week- for the first time, I submitted a review. To date, it has not been posted. I sent off an inquiry and here was the reply:

We have your one review in our hold files. Please read the rules below.

"We have found it necessary to add some more security to the website when it comes to approving reviews. All members will now have to submit a minimum of three (3) different campgrounds before any of their reviews will be posted on the website. If you have not seen a recent review you submitted posted on the website that is because it is in a holding queue until the three review quota has been met and then they will automatically transfer to the approval queue and will then be posted. Any member that has already posted three or more will see no change. Sorry we have to do this but some campground owner's/employees think they don't have to follow the rules of this website and continue to try to post great reviews about their campground. The "great" campgrounds will never have to do that as they will always receive positive reviews from their customers. We have caught several and will continue to do so to try to keep this website as it was intended."

This works for me. Even over at rvparkreviews.com there is a 2 review minimum before your review gets posted and reviewers there are anonymous.

The Admins here are trying to discourage campgrounds from pumping up their own ratings and this is a good way to do it. Multiple reviews from the same poster for the same campground just has a funny odor to it.

Craig,

The review I submitted was much more accurate than the few that were posted about the campground. Unfortunately- no one will see it, If I ever submit two other reviews so that my original one gets there- it might be a year or more from now. Meanwhile, The campground gets a bum rap and less business because of what's written about it. I don't own the place or have any vested interest in it.

I have read the reviews for a cg where most all were not very good. Then use see a first time poster post a five star review. I think that some cg owners will post a review on their on cg to get a postive five star review. JMO

I agree. That's why we discount the best and the worst. Hopefully the site will grow and there will be many postings.

So wait, all I have to do is post a great review for my CG, and two trashy reviews for my competitors? Sounds like a double-win marketing plan!

Really, all this is unnecessary. If I use the CG ratings/reviews, I look for multiple good reviews from people who have a history on the site. I am smart enough to spot a self-reviewer. Even if I'm not, the avreages will balance out the review to be slightly better than actual, which is what I expect anyway.

I have to agree with the policy. I have read reviews where the poster stated how rude the CG personnel were, but when I arrived they were nothing but polite and accommodating. Attitude begets attitude. I have many times told my wife that it appeared like a competitive campground had posted a review.

I think you are stating that you only go out with our RV once a year.

The policy is not specifically against you but the 1% that ruin it for others. I take one negative posting with a grain of salt. Also if there are several negative postings and only one good one, it could be the owner that posted the good one. I take that one good posting lightly also.

Nothing against you personally, but I believe the policy is a good one.

1%? I can run with that number, playing devils advocate. So for every 1 misleading, self-posted review in the holding tank, there are 99 valid, helpful reviews waiting that may never be seen. Seems like a case of throwing the baby out with the bath water to me.

What I found, the first time I tried to post a review, was that every time I hit one of the command buttons, I had to log in to the newsgroup again.

I just gave up after about 8 sucessive log-ins.

I'll try it again now we're back from a very pleasant trip at two out of three CGs.

Hi - I am puzzled by this. Campground reviews here are NOT moderated so I assume you are speaking about another site. If that's the case then you will need to address this issue with that site and not here at iRV2. If you are receiving this message here please send a site team member a Pm with the details so we can explore any possible issues.

To clarify, the OP is referring to rvparkreviews.com, not the iRV2.com Campgrounds page.

NLOVNIT- Thanks, This is the case. For the sake of my original post on rvparkreviews, in a nutshell, the place is great from all aspects (Delta Marina in Rio Vista, Ca.) I'll post something on the park reviews section in these forums.

You must have gone to more than that one campground recently. Just submit a review for the others you have gone to.
