I am interested making a list of RV parks that are located in cities and within walking distance to restaurants, shopping, on bus / transit lines, etc.
I've not found a directory that categorizes RV parks in such a way. I'll try to post something somewhere if I can gather some info.

Casino Queen Campground in East St. Louis, IL. Train station right at end of parking lot. Takes you to the Arch, Busch Stadium, etc. The campground will even shuttle you from their office to the station in a van.

We stayed in a campground in Seattle with public transport and one in Vancouver, BC with public transit. It was quite a few years ago and I don't remember the names but it worked well to get into the city. The one in Seattle was just a parking lot but it served well to go to the city.

United Campgrounds in Durango Colorado has a city bus/trolley stop at it. You can take the bus into Durango where there are lots of places to shop and eat not to mention catching the Durango and Silverton railroad where you can take a steam train for a beautiful trip up to Silverton and back.

James Island (or is it James River...?) in Charleston: shuttle bus down town. It's a county park.

If you happen into Upper Michigan, the Lake Superior shore in fact, roughly in the middle is a little town called Grand Marais.
They have an RV park. perhaps 2 blocks from what passes for "Downtown" (It is a very small town) Nice little park.. Do not know how large a rig they can accept.. Do understand that it's been 24 years since I've been there. At that time the showers had Nick-o-locks on them (You pay to shower) which I did not like. And I understand prices have increased from what I paid.
Should you wish to visit the lake superior shore.. IT is a fairly long stairway (About 2 stories as I recall) and you are at the eastern end of painted rocks national lakeshore.
Very lovaly site.
Issue with campgrounds in a city however is kids.. Since this campground's "Fence" is a low rail, easily stepped over, local kids come and play.. some of them have sticky fingers.
I would worry about any CG in a city that did not have a good security system
Now.. In Southern NV. a little burg called Las Vegas
Several campgrounds, while not within walking distance of food, are within walking distance of the local transit bus stop. and it takes you to.. just about anywhere in the city
In addition several campgrounds are "Attached" (legally or physically) to casinos, these include Sams's Town, Arizonia Charlie's, Main Street Casino and the Circus Circus KOA, Oasis, at the south end of the strip. is affiliated with Harras and runs shuttle busses (Not to mention a fairly good eatery on site)
My daughter works for Bally's. a Harrah's property

Oceanic RV Park is located right in the middle of downtown Long Beach, Wa. Long Beach is a small town located on the ocean on Long Beach peninsula. The RV park isn't that great (small spaces) but you can't beat the proximity to everything.

Cherry Hill in Washington DC. Metro bus stops near the office at the campground, and links up to the Metro system.
