There is a large one right at zimmerman. They have a Blue Grass Festavile each year. While your in MN and if you have time visit Itaska State Park the start of the Mississippi.

Re: parks near Pittsburgh, the pickings are slim. I'm originally from there and when visiting my family, I usually stay at Mountaintop Campground in the Tarentum area. Nice folks, great view and TV antennae reception, fiarly close to the PA turnpike exit #5 and just enough off the beaten path to feel like you are still camping.

If you are driving a DP towing a car don't worry about the hill getting in. But I did unhook my Jeep from the MH going in and out. it's Pittsburgh, there are hills here.

If your family is more to the west of the city I might consider staying out that way, maybe Raccoon Creek State Park.

jackrobinryan is right, there aren't many campgrounds around Pittsburgh. In addition to Mountaintop in Tarentum, there is a KOA about 30 miles south of the 'Burgh in Washington, PA. It's been a couple of years since we stayed there. The sites aren't real big, there are some permanently parked RVs, and it's noisy because it's right at the intersection of I-70 and I-79, but it's relatively easy to get around via I-79.

There is also Rose Point Campground about 50 miles north of downtown in New Castle, PA. We haven't stayed there for several year either; but, in spite of being farther from downtown, it was a nicer campground. It's far from downtown; but we used to live in the North Hills of Pittsburgh, so that's where our doctors and family were.

About an hour east of Pittsburgh is Laurel Hill State Park. Very quite, large beach, clean restrooms and showerhouses. Most sites are paved and large. The loop for pets only has grass pads. Located off the Dunegal Exit of the PA pike. Here are a few Pics
