I'd like to find a "resort" style campground near Wilmington, NC. Anyone aware of any with more spacious sites, nice pool, etc. I would expect to pay more than a standard campground.

The only park that I can find in the immediate Willmington area is the KOA http://www.koa.com/where/nc/33168/ The most recent reviews on rvparkreviews.com seem to be ok.

We were in the Charlotte area a few weeks ago and were looking for something in the area too. The pickins were a bit slim so we chose to spend a couple of nights in the mountains instead.

We did a great deal of searching but were unable to find anything in the area that would qualify as an "RV Resort". We considered the Myrtle Beach area but didn't want to fight the crowds and incredibly high prices down there.

Good luck in your search, I'll be watching this thread with interest.

Bob, we were in Myrtle Beach in May 08 for 10 days, decided to go to Wilmington area for a few days, what a surprize, only found the KOA before mentioned. I had called them when we left M/Beach to confirm a site once we arrived, NO PROBLEM, COME ON UP HE SAID, once after fighting town traffic and arriving, he didn't remember talking to me, but did have one site(which was too small for our Coach) and about price, it was as high as M/Beach, so good luck because there is little to no other options in that area that we found, what a dissapointment.

Thanks for the quick replies. I'll give the KOA a call once we have some firm dates in mind.

You might try going out to Carolina Beach east of Wilmington there are a couple of parks out there haven't been there since they had a hurricane several years ago but used to like it

I just saw this posted on another thread.http://www.grapefullsistersvineyard....rollwoods.html I see this campground it located about 45 miles from Wilmington and not too far from Myrtle Beach. It might be something to check into.
