One (temporary) caveat about Chatfield State Park: a couple of years back the USCoE approved increasing the capacity of the reservoir to support the population growth of several south-metro counties. Construction related to this project started late last year, and is still continuing.
The RV park is unaffected by the construction, but currently all of the (former) beach area, the perimeter road, the hot air balloon launch site, and a few other areas are still under excavation.
A lot of the construction is slated to complete this month, however construction (especially outdoor construction) is subject to delays, and your time window might be pushing it somewhat.
