Would appreciate any input on RV parks or good boon docking locations between Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta on or close to the Sea of Cortez drivable in a 42 ft RV. Planning a trip down from Oregon February-March 2014. Thanks for any information.

Can't help with boondocking but we're in Lo de Marcos for the winter at Cruz Maria RV park. Small, well maintained park w/ 21 sites. Can accommodate large rigs and on a great beach. Great quiet little Mexican seaside village that hasn't lost it's charm or identity. Here you are below the Sea of Cortez on the Pacific Ocean. Water temps are swimmable all winter.
The larger sites are usually reserved for seasonal visitors but worth checking. There are other parks in town that could probably accommodate you as well. We would definitely stay here again

Thanks datrbone8. Sounds like you have a great spot for the winter. I can't find Lo de Marcos on my AAA map. What is a larger city that is close? I guess when you get south of Mazatlan it starts to get tropical, which is nice this time of year. We are getting anxious to hit the road from So. Coast Oregon around the end of the month and explore that part of Mexico.

We're right off Mx route 200 around 40 miles north of Puerto Vallarta, between La Penita/Rincon de Guayabitos and Sayulita.

Thanks again. I see it now, looks like a great spot to spend the winter.
