RVing from Central PA to Maine

Leaving PA October 10th for Maine and suggestions on places to stop on the way or campgrounds to stay at once I get there. Would like to do the beaches of Maine for a day then head up north and finish up coming back through Vermont and upper NY. Trailering a bike, should be good riding weather....

I suggest you start calling for reservations. I found most campgrounds close by September 10 in Maine. We went up for the Fall colors, beautiful, but campgrounds were limited so 'late' in the season. We did make use of L.L. Bean overnight parking and Walmart.

September? Closing dates I found for ALL campgrounds in the Bangor/Acadia area range from Oct. 1 to Oct. 16 this year.

Heading from central PA to Maine, Bangor area, for a family event on Oct. 21, hoped to take the TT. Absolutely every campground I could find is closing by Oct. 16. Gonna have to "rough it" in a series of motels.

You are correct. Maine State Park campground reservation office closed Sept. 10, but the campsites are open until Columbus Day. I know when we went a couple of years ago, we found many campgrounds closed before or on Columbus Day, but when I looked online before my reply to your post, I saw the State Parks Reservation closed Sept. 10. We stayed at a KOA near Bar Harbor, ended up closing when we left Columbus Day. You can stay in Connecticut rest stop areas, they have dump stations at rest areas, but some might be closed due to budget limitations.

In NE. PA. you have Worlds End State Park....

In Central VT. We like Lake Dunmore's Kamperville

In NW. VT. the Ben & Jerrry's Ice Cream factory tour.

Just north of Ben & Jerry's in Stowe with a nice ride over Smugglers Notch.

Visit the granite quarry / factory in Barre.
Also don't miss the cemetary in town it is a granite myseum.
Many headstones done by / for Rock of Ages employees as an employee benefit. They are very interesting.

Just got back from Old Orchard CG in Maine they said they're open to Oct30. Look online at the Campground owners guide for each state, usually several that are open late or year round w/limited services

Good luck finding open CGs! Check the Allstays app or website - they list CGs open year round. There are several in ME and NH. ST
