RVing near Crater lake / Bend OR

We have reservations to head up to crater lake later this summer.

We have never been there and would like to hear from others
on ideas of fun things to do and see.

Thanks

We stayed at Diamond Lake and drove to the park.
We underestimated just how much there is to do in and around the lake and look forward to going back just to spend some time there.

Absolutely beautiful park. We drove to the Rim pulling the trailers cause it was in between stops. RV parking is a bit scarce at the visitor center. Regular passenger cars feel the need to park there. Kind of frustrating. They also had some construction going on with some road closures. Do a couple of the short hikes if you're in to that kind of thing. Here are a few pictures.

It's a beautiful place but be aware that you are in bear country. Keep your campsite clean and food free. Don't ask me how I know this.

The Damond Lake and Crater Lake area is one of my favorite places in the world. Years ago we would rent cabins at Diamond Lake and snowmobile into Crater lake.
We don't snowmobile anymore but we try to get to Diamond lake at least once a year for camping and fishing. Besides the Bears, watch out for the mosquitos during certain times of the year... They are ferocious!!!

We have taken the guided snowmobile tour up the lake from Diamond Lake twice. Absolutely beautiful.

We have also stayed in the campground, hauled our bikes up the hill and ridden our them around the perimeter rosd. It's a tough ride with lots of climbing at 7000 feet, but a great experience (in our younger years).

We have always stayed at Diamond Lake area so I can't comment on other camp areas.

The boat ride is also a great opportunity but the hike down and back up is not easy.

We will be on there for 8 days up at big pines just north of Diamond resort.

We love to hike and mountain hike. We live around 5K elevation so
the change of elevation should not be a issue for us.

We see there lots of do that we want to try. But we know how time
flies when your on vacation.

We stayed at Crater Lake campground. It was very nice and we wished we could have stayed longer. The Crater is amazing even though we didn't like some of the roads in the area.
