The Cabbalas in Omaha has RV parking in the back. No hook ups, don't put your jacks down or the slides out. Very quiet. One night only. Nearby in the suburb of Papillion is a city park, Walnut Creek. Very nice, electric only, but has a dump station and water. Its $16 a night, cash only, and no reservations. 14 day max. If its a week day you should have no problem. Locals fill the place on weekends.

In finding a place that is safe, this can vary dramatically. Walmarts - away from the semis - are fine for the most part. Even if they have signs stating "No Overnight Parking" call or visit that local store manager and simply ask "Can I park over night in your parking area?" Most times they will say "Sure. We put the signs up to stop the ones who stay for weeks. But stay as far away from the general parking areas a you can."

Granted, some cities do have local ordinances that do NOT allow for overnighting anywhere other than legitimate campgrounds.
Probably need to travel a little more or pay more attention to signs like this.

They don't all have the little 3 hour limit sign though.

That is what I thought rest stops were for... to keep highways safe from tired travelers. I can understand not allowing setting up camp but no overnight resting?

I believe most states classify camping as sleeping on the ground or setting up a tent. I think trailer parking refers to semis dropping their trailers and leaving. (3 hour limit)
