Most of the time you can count on upper 50s or lower 60s during the day and 40s at night. So comparing it to Manitoba it could be spring.
It's often quite breezy during the day, and the constant moisture in the air makes it feel cooler than the temperature would lead you to think. (I lived in Iowa for 20 years, so I do know that 50s isn't COLD not matter how breezy and/or humid it is.) Rarely is it cold in Dec, January starts to get noticably cooler, in any case don't come thinking that you can wear shorts and t-shirts every day because we're too far north here to be THAT part of Florida.

If by 'tours' you mean the trollys and trains that tour the city, they run year around. There are also a couple of different two hour boat tours that take your around the area (quick, somebody hum the theme to Gilligan's Island!)

Also in Dec and Jan the Nights of Lights will be going (just Google that one, if you don't already know what it is).

We just happened to drive by Stagecoach RV for the first time, looked like a nice enough place (as other have said), clean and well kept. Not quite enough trees and such to really suit us, but that's just a personal preference.

Let me know if there are other things you want to know. Feel free to PM me if you get the urge. If I don't know the answer, my wife certainly does.

We have reservations at Stage Coach April 2-6 and looking forward to that. Our problem is that we will be in the area on April 1 but we can't get a spot there on that night.

Does anyone know if there are any prohibitions to overnight parking at the Walmart in either Palm coast or St Augustine?

Are there any other overnight places that can be recommended in those areas?

Hi Sky_Boss,
CW is at the same exit as Stage Coach. They have a really big lot. If you arrive after they close, this might work for you. I do not know about the laws/rules. Maybe a call to CW would help. There are also strip malls at this exit.

There are signs as you drive into Camping World and the Outlet Strip mall prohibiting overnight parking. I don't know whether they enforce it or not.

The Walmart in St Augustine is your best bet as they allow overnight parking. I have seen many RVer's parking there while we stayed in the area between November and January.

Sky Boss,
there is a Flying j an exit or 2 before the outlets that lets RV's park overnight and/or if you happen to be an Elk, they have water/elect on A1A at the Elk's lodge..Chuck

All of my RV apps show NOP at the WM in St Augustine. I have stayed at the Flying J at Exit 305. They have RV parking in front away from the truck parking. Beware, the snowbirds are heading north in early April, so the lot could fill up early.

On the contrary, my two apps, All-Stays Camp & RV plus All-Stays Walmart ONP state that the St Augustine Walmart does allow overnight parking EVEN though there is a local ordinance which it NOT enforced.

As I had stated previously, for the two months I was staying in St Augustine and passed by the Walmart frequently there were a number of RVer's staying there each time I went by the store.

I have come across this same situation many times at different Walmart's while traveling around the country. Found that out last November at the Walmart in Attalla, AL when I was at Brice-Thomas having a radiator replaced.

I put more faith in what I see versus what I read.

Richard...good to know! RVParky and RV Parks both show NOP. We purposely avoided that WM because of RVParky. The same is true about the WM in Wilkes-Barre. We've stayed there many times, although RVPARKY indicates NOP.

Thanks folks...

After I posted my question I called St. Augustine PD. According to the person I spoke with, there are NO local ordinance and that parking at the Walmart is purely an issue between WM and us. There are some ordinances regarding public areas that do exist but I couldn't find any regarding private places.

I also called the WM and they don't have any issues but they hedged a little bit on whether they thought there were any local ordinance issues.

In perusing local ordinances I found only this regarding St. Augustine Beach:

Sec. 13-4. - Sleeping in public places or vehicles prohibited.
It is unlawful for any person to sleep at any of the following places or in any of the following vehicles between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. of the following day: (a) on any publicly owned property, or, (b) in or on any type of vehicle. As utilized herein the term "vehicle" shall include but not be limited to motor vehicles, boats, motor cycles, recreational vehicles, house cars, and trailers.

(Ord. No. 98-7, 2, 5-4-98)

I didn't find anything for the City of St. Augustine or St. Johns County.

Just found a neat video of Stagecoach RV and St Augustine, it will answer all questions.
YouTube "Stagecoach RV and St Augustine Florida by David Bott". His youtube videos are always great.

Cracker Barrel if there is one close by. Talk with manager and have breakfast before you move on. Check out the one at exit 318 on I-95 to see if they have room for your rig.
