Thumbs up Salmon River- Idaho

If your coming out of Missoula, Montana going south you will be taking one of the best scenic routes around. Hwy 93 going to Salmon ID. Very windy highway with 25 mph signs posted at turns. Better heed those signs. This road is a motorcycle dream road. Lots of 6% grades with tight turns, but very wide. Lots of small RV spots along the way. Follows the Salmon River. After Salmon make sure you take ID hwy 75 after the town of Challis to a town called Stanley. Breathtaking views of the Sawtooth mountains. You'll be following the salmon River to its starting point. This highway will come back to Hwy 93 to take you into Nevada.
We just got back from there in our 32 ft. Newmar Bay Star. Did the trip no problem

The drive you took is one of our absolute favorites. We've done it often with our 40' MH. You're constantly driving along the river and rivers are twisty at times. The drive itself is no big issue though. There are plenty of places to spend a quiet, relaxing night or two at the river's edge - fishing access spots and national forest campground are plentiful. The small town of Stanley, ID and the Sawtooth Nat'l Recreation area is breathtaking and the Rec Area's campgrounds are lovely.

No one should ever pass up this route!

Thanks for the reminder about it - brings back good memories. Plus, the fly fishing is awesome!!!
