Sam's Town RV Park is now Las Vegas KOA

Effective October 1, 2014, Sam's Town RV Park was purchased and will be renamed Las Vegas KOA. The Las Vegas KOA was originally located on The Strip next to Circus Circus Casino. That location has been sold and will be re-developed into something different.

I expect the prices have increased significantly.

I tried to make reservations yesterday and they told me that they will not be able to make them until the end of the month. The folks at ST said they would make them beginning Oct 6, so I think they are absolutely confused.

When I asked about rates I didn't get an answer but Keep On Adding will certainly raise the reasonable rates that ST had. Not good news at all. Their rates at Circus Circus were ridiculous and I'm surprised that anyone paid them.

So if your going to Vegas from now on, forget the Rv. The hotel rooms will be a lot cheaper than the Rv spaces.
Koa sucks

When I first called ST they thought I wanted a hotel room and they quoted a price of about $50 (room, resort fee, taxes) for weekdays and probably another $30 on weekends. If I'm not mistaken, KOA charged upwards of $70-$80 at Circus Circus.

Can't imagine them charging that much.

I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being cheaper than KOA rates to just leave the RV in the hotel parking lot and getting a room.

One thing we need to keep in mind - in the same footprint of a 100 site RV park you could build an 800 room hotel. Especially on the strip, they sell that real estate by the square millimeter. The Sam's Town location maybe a bit cheaper - by the square inch.

Years ago I'd heard a rumor that some within the Disney corporation wanted to know why the Fort Wilderness property was being so "underutilized" and not being redeveloped into a higher density hotel or vacation club property. Thankfully that notion seems to have gone away but you will see sites going for more than some of the Disney property guest rooms.

Why is everyone so concerned about Sam's Town RV park? It isn't like it was the best RV park in Vegas. There are a lot of RV parks is Vegas, even on Boulder Hwy, that are much better than Sam's. You can still drive over to Sam's Town and stand in line for their low class buffet.

It's no real loss at all, just wondering how they are going to be competitive since the other parks on Boulder Hwy are much less expensive than typical KOA rates. At Circus Circus they at least had the distinction of being on the strip to justify their rates, on Boulder Highway they will be just another RV park in an area full of RV parks.

I agree. Plus they were rude, and over priced anyway for what people were getting. For years I lived in LA and went to Vegas several times a month. Sam's Town was my choice but one time they were full and I found out there were other RV parks that were much better than Sam's. I know they have some neat attractions in their inside park setting etc. However, I can drive over there and see that stuff.

Probably about $15/night less than Las Vegas Motor Coach Resort.

Think Az Charlies is about $32. Weekly rate discount it is less. Or daily rate discount with GS.
