Taking my two kids to Phoenix from San Antonio in February. Thought we could stop in El Paso area and make a quick trip into Mexico and just do a quick touristy thing w/them. Any suggestions on campgrounds and where I might take the kids to buy some trinkets and any other suggestions across the border.

Thanks

Scott,
Don't forget, everybody (adults and kids) need passports as of January 1, 2008. Without passports nobody gets back into the USA. It is taking quite a while (months) to originate a passport.

The next thought is whatever CG you choose, talk to them and get their take on the safety of crossing the border for tourist activities. The border towns have gotten much more voilent crime. Like it or not, our families do not blend into a Latin American street scene. We look like rich Americans.

If you decide to go, get advice on where best to park your car. I forgot what you tow. If it is a Ford, be very careful in the El Paso area. Just a few years ago, Fords were by far the most stolen Brand of vehicle.
