Are any of my fellow campers familiar with San Elijo State Beach cmpgrd. near Encinitas and Paso Picacho cmpgrd. near Julian? We'll be in the area in mid May and may want to stay. Any input is appreciated. Kel.

I am a native San Diegan and this is what I can tell you - San Elijo is beautiful, but I have never RV'd there. I have heard that it is hard to get a spot there, but that is unconfirmed. As for the Julian area, I live in Ramona, 20 miles west of Julian. I have also never camped at Paso Picacho, but it is close. I would be happy to check it out for you. We just camped at Dos Picos here in Ramona this week-end and it was beautiful and very quiet.

Chris, We looked into Dos Picos for the time we'll be there and it's already full. Please don't go out of your way but since you live close to Paso Picacho maybe your neighbors can tell you about it. We like rustic, older campgrounds and not the shiny RV Park style. We have a pickup and TT and are equipped to boondock. We want to see Julian and possibly some of Anza Borrego. Thanks for the help. Kel.
