San Diego to Portland Trip

Just got back from a 2 week trip to the Portland area and wanted to share a few places that we went too.

Home Very nice place and about 3 miles off the 5.

Arrived in a small town today, (McMinnville) are staying at the Olde Stone Village. Home | Olde Stone Village | RV Parks McMinnville
The CG is in the middle of the wine country and must had seen at least 15 signs of wineries coming into town. Approx 25 miles from I-5.

Been here for one night and 5 more to go before heading back south. This place is very well maintain and landscaped beautifully. The site are VERY large and we could get 3 more cars in our site as well. If you like the resort type camping then this is the place, best we have stayed in! 5 star for sure. Only thing is that on some review site, some people complain about the 15 year rule.

In walking distance, the Evergreen Museum is next door, home of the "Spruce Goose" 747 parked in the parking lot so you can't miss it. guess we will check it out today and hit some wineries.

Left McMinnville this morning and now heading back south.

I can say enough about that Olde Stone Village. Very nice and look for a return trip again.

We arrived in Canyonville OR this afternoon and staying at Seven Feathers RV Resort. Home - Seven Feathers RV Resort. Haven't done much exploring yet but what I've seen driving in, looks nice as well. Going to dinner at the casino later and try our luck at the table games. :-) They do offer a shuttle 24 hrs a day. Will pick you up at your site and return you when your ready to co e back.

Leaving seven feathers RV resort tomorrow and the resort is also very nice. We stayed here because the reviews we saw on this forum so thought we would give it a try, glad we did! The indoor pool was a plus because it has been in the mid 90s since we arrived. When we arrived, even gave us an escort to our site.

Tonight we went to the casino for the buffet and it was a about a 30 minute wait so DW decided to play a penny slot machine to pass the time and after feeding it about $2.30 the thing started to ring and lights went off and she said "what did I do", finding out that she just won $603.00! Needless to say, she cashed in and guess who paid for dinner.

Working our way back to the San Diego area, we will spend the night in Redding.

We arrived Redding , Ca and hit a lot of head wind so the drive was pretty slow and even most trucks were having a tough time dealing.

I guess it paid off by checking on RV resorts prior to leaving on this trip. Another nice CG, Redding Premier RV resort. Premier RV Resorts has locations in Redding, CA; Eugene, Salem, and Lincoln City, OR; and Clarkston, WA - Welcome we are staying in the newer park of the park, sites 100 - 115. Big rig friendly, level pads, nicely landscaped. They have a nice store and tonight they offered wine tasting and of course we didn't miss that.

For aviation buffs who have kids, the roof mounted Boeing 747 is overtop a water slide park that is open year around.

I have a BIL who is a docent at the museum. He says that RV's can park in the air museum lot to visit the museum etc and he "thought" an overnight stay, in the lot, was OK too.

This is several month old info, BTW.

The Evergreen Air Museum is a great place to visit. I think they are losing, or have already lost, the B-17 exhibit that is/was going to another owner/organization. The H-1 Hercules is still worth seeing though.

Two thumbs up for the Evergreen Aviation Museum. Well worth the time and effort to visit. IMHO.
