San Francisco

I am going from So Cal to Oregon and would like to stop in San Francisco for a day trip. I know the roads in San Fran are tough to drive in a motorhome, so I am wondering if there is a place to park outside the city and take a cab, bus or other public transportation to the city itself

We're from The City so have done this often.

There is San Francisco RV Resort | Park your RV on the Cliffs overlooking the Pacific Coastline | Pacifica, California in Pacifica and it's probably the closest. Overlooks the ocean but is basically an asphalt lot with hook ups I believe.

We also like a park located in or near Mill Valley but I can't remember the name of it. It's right by the ferry terminal so we take the ferry into The City.

Others have reported staying at the Pleasanton fairgrounds and using BART to get into town.

Good luck

Rick

The Marin RV Park is in Larkspur, north of San Francisco. There is a ferry terminal about a mile from the park. Another option is the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton. There is a BART terminal in Pleasanton.

Wherever, try to use the BART. Look on-line and find where to pick up the "Clipper" card. You will have to populate it with money at the BART station. I'm assuming you are a Senior. If so, there is another way to go. Pick up the 1 day pass for $17 and you can ride the BART, MUNI, Trolley's all day long. A great way to get around the city and see the sights. If you decide on the Clipper card, just populate it with about $15. The BART will only be couple bucks each direction, and 75 cents to ride the MUNI and Trolley's (Maybe even $10 will do.

Have fun. We just left that area. Stayed at Military FamCamps.
