Any place you can find to stay, not that bad a drive back to the balloon site, we did that a number of years ago.

Two parks across from each other on Cerrillos Road in Santa Fe...not bad. Also a good size park near Pojaque north of Santa Fe. Neither would be bad for day trips to the Balloon Fest. Don't think you're going to get closer. There is a casino about 10 miles S of Santa Fe that you might get into (dry camping), but may be crowded.

Food's better in Santa Fe anyway...Tortilla Flats, Plaza Cafe, Tiny's...etc

I stayed here a few years ago, I absolutely loved this place and location. Good luck!

X2

I just left there last week. Nice place, good view, reasonable sized RV pads. If you have a big rig ask for a"patio" site. Some of the non-patio sites are a bit hilly but some have a unique setting so it balances out. WiFi was iffy. We heard coyotes yapping out our windows.

The KOA east of Santa Fe looked real hilly and tight.

West of Santa Fe is Cochiti Lake CG run by Corps of Engineers which gets rave reviews but they are affected by our broken government shutdown.
