Have two children, 6 & 5.

Traveling back from Florida in November and January. Would like to know what are the best campgrounds in Savannah/Hilton Head area.

If you want to stay on/near the ocean there is:
1. Outdoor Resorts on Hilton Head island 800-722-2365.
2. River's End CG & RV Park 800-786-1016

Inland (near I95) there is Savannah Oaks RV Resort 800-851-0717
You can't miss at any of these CGs. It just depends on what you're looking for and if they have a space. The time of year you are going is "in season".

This is a decent KOA out just off I-95. However, if you don't mind a small side trip off of I-95, hands down without a doubt I would say go to Hunting Island State Park which is just north of Hilton Head but south of Charleston. This park is very wooded with lots of shade and many sites VERY close the beach. There are a few sites you can almost hang your bumper on the beach sand. The bugs can be bad but I would not let that stop me. The beach is very wide and nice for bike riding.

Just south of Savannah is a great campground and it's very cheap, Fort Mcallister State park, or you could stay at Skidaway State Park on Skidaway Island (it has a swimming pool). Both parks have shaded sites, water and electric, fire rings and table.
