Hi all! Looking for a nice campground on the beach in SC or GA that is not hustle bustle like Myrtle Beach. Looked in Hilton Head but doesn't seem to be any cg on the beach. Have a teenager and a 6 yr old so need stuff to do like mini golf and pool, not much popping up online so I thought would post here for any suggestions. We r coming down from Ohio and do not know to much about that area down there. Thank you for any suggestions

Huntington Beach State Park (HBSP) is a great choice. It's near Murrels Inlet where you can find some of the best Seafood around, Across the hway from Brookgreen Gardens, very peaceful. And with your Kia Soul (my wife has one) you can easily make the drive to MB for all the shopping, putt-putt, eating you can stand. I'm from SC and can't stand what has happened to MB over the years.
If you are a golfer, there are many great GC's near HBSP. BTW the ocean makes a great pool!
If you want to go further south, then I would suggest two other places. One being James Island County Park near Charleston, and further south is Hunting Island State Park. Not so much in the way of kiddie amenities but another great beach.

Suggest you NOT go to Crooked River SP in Georgia. No river access and the riverbank is caving in. It is about 30-40 feet above the water.

AS the others said hunting Island is a laid back place. The shrimp shack is nearby. It is a shack but has great shrimp. Bring the bycycles. There is a lot of places for the kids to ride bikes. Also the lighthouse gives a great view of the island. It is a short ride to Beufort, Which is med. size quaint town.

We loved Hunting Island. VERY laid back spot. Right by the beach with miles of open sand. If you're interested I've got pics of the spot here

..... I'm kinda partial to MB(Oceanlakes).......but the kid's are a pain. If you choose GA, forget Tybee Island in Savannah, I did not get good reviews. Anywhere you park, you must pay.........to much $$$$. Good luck and travel safe.

There is a campground named "Tuck in the Woods" not far from Hunting. Stayed there a week and enjoyed it very much.

You may want to look at Rivers End Camp Ground on Tybee Island GA. Near Savannah. It's not located on the beach however it is a short drive of about a mile. Has a nice pool. Some good restaurants down by the beach and a bike friendly area. A plus is Savannah which is about 15 miles to the west. Lots to do there.
