Scottsdale AZ

Looking for a week stay the first week in October. Does not need to be a 5* resort but a nice place with FHU.
Thanks

Look at Desert Shadows RV Resort about 20 minutes from Scottsdale.
We have stayed there 4 or 5 times. It is near I-17 and 101. Also Costco is within walking distance out the back gate.

How did you manage to get Costco's big, heavy, bulky items back to the RV if you were walking?

OP: Do you need to stay in Scottsdale? Do you use this site? Many parks around the area and they will probably be empty by now after 'the season'. Cave Creek Maricopa County Park would be our choice... and it has been many times … but just E and water fill.

We went out there scoping out campgrounds for when we retire. Check out the Maricopa county parks. They are very nice.

there are so many within a short distance of scottsdale. many are in mesa. another nice place is eagle view rv resort. it's maybe 10 miles to the east of scottsdale but it is on open land and not surrounded by the city. i cannot comment about the county parks as i have not stayed at them (yet).

Almost none in Scottsdale itself. Westworld has camping (water and electric with dump station or honey wagon) in Scottsdale, but just big parking lots. As others have said, lots of choices in the Valley outside Scottsdale. Many like the county parks but I have never found them available the times I have looked.Good luck. October should be a wonderful time for weather in the Valley. Come up to Sedona and say hello.

Thanks all.
Still looking.
I hate parking lot camping and we do need FHU as we will be preparing the coach for a 4 month storage.
Any tips on indoor storage would be appreciated as well.

twogypsies,
I was fortunate my wife was with me on the walk. I had her balance the bulk stuff on her head wile I carried the adult beverages. Darn a life long Texan and I cannot tell a good lie.

I enjoy reading your posts from all of you years of travel.

Most of the RV parks in the Phoenix area have outside storage. Also National Indoor Storage has a facility close to Scottsdale. It is located off East Deer Valley, near Cave Creek Rd.

Indoor storage is hard to find in AZ. I don't know why. Real estate prices are reasonable and of course the climate is fierce. Indoor storage should be common. But it isn't. We built our own garage next to the house. I don't know if NIRVC has its Phoenix indoor storage ready yet. That is the first place I would check.

Just spent three weeks at Westworld while DW had surgery at Mayo Clinic, and except for not having sewer hookup it was perfect for us. If you request a spot overlooking the polo field you have acres of grass right outside your door, and this time of year there are never more than ten or 12 RVs staying unless there is an event on. Price was $27 per night plus tax.

There is a dump station on site. I ended up buying a portable waste tank so that we didn't have to break camp every third day to dump tanks.

It's not your typical parking lot situation, but you won't have a swimming pool, rec room or shuffleboard either. I liked not having neighbors on each side like most sardine can RV parks.

Lots of restaurants and stores are within a mile or so, and a great BBQ place called The Thumb is just outside the gate.

We also checked out Eagle View. Not bad… more of a typical RV park... but more out of town and not as convenient for us. All depends what you prefer. Eagle View did have outside RV storage, but it was just a dirt lot and looked to me that it would be great pack rat habitat

Eagleview Resort in Ft. McDowell is just over the hill to the east.

We have stayed there quite a few times, it’s quiet and close to Fountain Hills.
