Secluded campgrounds

We were wondering if there is a list of campgrounds where the sites were more secluded, not on top of one another. We have a 38' fifth wheel and we do like full hook-ups.

I'd think your desires are sort of mutually exclusive. To be secluded, you need distance between sites. The greater the distance, the more expensive it is to run utilities underground between sites. That's why so many 'RV parks' place sites so close together.

I was in a few Washington state parks that had pretty good distance between sites, but not too many private campgrounds that spread out.

That is the issue. The state parks here in Washington State are good for the most part. Some of the newer parks or sections of parks are close together. The great thing is that you can go online and view most sites before booking. Our National parks are also nice put with 38' you will find spaces very limited.

Our first choices are always public parks - national, state, country, forest service, Corps of Engineers. We also enjoy boondocking on BLM lands in the west. We haven't found a private campground that gives us the nature views, outstanding scenery and bigger spaces. Also, we have a 40' motorhome and have no difficulty fitting into these kinds of parks. Our last 4 stays were in forest service campgrounds. Good luck!

Gee. 38' fifth wheel and full hook-ups means someone is going to have to give up 3 or 4 spaces to provide you with seclusion. I'd strongly suggest a good generator and heading off by yourself on BLM land or something like that.

Ain't nothing can replace seclusion, though DVDs may have to be the order of the night. I like seclusion, too, and I wish you the best.

Oregon State Parks will fit your bill. Many have hookups and good privacy. I think in general public parks (State Parks, BLM, COE etc.) will be your best bet, and if you can manage without full hookups that will widely expand your selections.

Private parks need to make the most of the limited land they have, so privacy and seclusion are rare finds.
