Second Beach Campground, RI

I have become so dependent on RVParkreviews, that I rarely google a campground anymore. Since there are so few CGs in RI, I did just that this time... I found this state park CG in Middletown RI, but there isn't any information on sites or how big a rig it can handle, etc. In looking at a map, it looks like it's right on the beach, is very close to Newport, and has full hookups. So I am very interested in learning more. There is a phone number, so I know I can call them but would like to hear from you guys with first hand experience.

Can anybody tell me how I would do with a 40' DP at this CG?

I had the same issue that you are having in the spring when I was making reservations for this fall when we will be in the New England area. I could not find any information on campgrounds in RI since we also have a wedding that we need to attend in Newport RI at this time. So we are staying at a KOA campground called Boston South in Middleboro MA. This is approximately an hour from Newport RI. The campground seems to be highly rated receiving between 8 and 9 out of 10 by users on RV Park Reviews. So I choose this campground.

Good Luck on your quest.

I live about 40 minutes away from Second Beach Campground also known as Sachuset. It is on the Newport/Middletown line. The location is beautiful with the ocean, beach and wildlife refuge within walking distance. I personally have never stayed there. The sites appear to be very, very close and lots of seasonals. I don't know how quiet it would be if that's important to you. I don't recall seeing any trees. There is a brand new campground (opened in June) in Ashaway called Ashaway RV Resort. It is close to the Rhode Island shoreline with many, many beaches to choose from. Newport would probably be about an hour away but a very easy drive along route 1. Whispering Pines CG is also in southern RI and a little further to the beaches.

Thanks Gladie... I checked out Ashaway on line earlier today and am thinking about checking it out for a weekend. I got a call back from Second Beach and was told they are booked up every weekend through the end of the summer. Pretty much like everywhere else that's a decent place to stay... Ashaway actually has campsites available... Thanks
