If you have time take a drive down HWY.11( David Thompson hwy) as far as Abraham lake and the bighorn dam. Absolutely incredible scenery. When your at the ice fields (Saskatchewan crossing) the turn off is right there.

Please do an update on your trip as I am planning to go there in about 3 weeks and it would be nice to have fresh information.

We are heading up from North Dakota through Calgary (for a day or two) the on to Banff (and weather permitting Lake Louise, and Jasper). We are on our maiden voyage...so no toad this time. Any suggestions on where to stay in Calgary that is near to mass transit? Also, I looked for Trailer Village in Banff but couldn't find it on the internet. What part of Banff is it located? Given that we don't have a toad, would a rental car in Banff be recommended? It sounds like we could take our time in Banff and day trip the surrounding area, including Lake Louise. One last question, any recommendations for a spot in Jasper? Thanks in advance.

I've never heard of Trailer Village. Tunnel Mtn. is the place to stay.

Seeking info on Banff and surrounding areas

Banff is a small town that is easy to walk around. There is designated places to park an RV in Banff.
There is a bus service from Banff to Lake Louise.
If you are a avid biker there is a bike pathway that runs from Canmore, through Banff and to Lake Louise.

Remember there are city buses in Banff as well as tour buses that run to these places every day.

Come and enjoy. You won't regret it 😀
